In the past we have attempted several times to make our sites multilingual. These attempts have been moderately successful, however with free plugins and themes that don’t always recognize nor like each other it has been proven to be fairly challenging.
Once upon a time a nation attempted to build a huge tower in an effort to reach the Heavens. It did not succeed at that time because God saw the people’s arrogance and became so angry with them that he gave them multiple languages so they could no longer understand each other. Myth or fact? The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, however our differing languages worldwide are an important factor of misunderstandings and even struggle.
We of 3DN are however very interested in cultural exchange, so we want to make the best effort possible to make our site understandable for people whom primarily speak another language. For this reason we have made a bit of an investment this time and commercially purchased a plugin that makes it possible to not only have pages and posts in multiple languages but also plugins, themes etc. We have selected the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin for this purpose. This is a commercial plugin of which the authors of the Virtue Theme says it’s fully supported.
